Preservation
The Commission promotes historical preservation by identifying historically significant sites, buildings and structures and recognizing outstanding preservation efforts by presenting Preservation Awards.

Endangered Properties List
Walker County Historical Commission is compiling a list of ENDANGERED HISTORIC PROPERTIES.
Properties must be in danger of being demolished, severely neglected, or unsympathetically altered.
Listed properties must possess reasonable potential for being saved.
Listed properties must be significant.
Listing will have a positive impact on preservation.
The main focus is to shine light on these endangered resources and garner public support.
This list is modeled after the National Trust for Historic Preservation's 11 Most Endangered Historic Places
Nomination Process
Anyone may nominate a property for the list. In your nomination please include:
- An explanation of the historic significance of the building
- Why you think it is worthy of preservation
- Building address
- Historic name of the building.
